The Evolver's I-Ching

A modern interpretation of an ancient text embracing the wisdom of nature towards the humanization of humankind.

Available June, 2015 through Amazon, Barnes & Noble and selected bookstores.

ISBN: 978-0-9801947-0-8

I was an artist before I became a writer. The touchstone for  both, however, has been my love of nature - having spent my childhood in the Maryland horse country -  together with my long-standing curiosity in comparative traditions of wisdom.

In my twenties, Ibegan my initial studies in Chinese philosophy and the I-Ching.This ancient Chinese treatise, regarded as a seminal text, correlates the tao of nature and the tao of humanity through the book's upper and lower canons.

After earning a juris doctorate degree at the University of Maryland School of Law, which followed my previous position managing a graphic design studio, I returned to my roots in the natural world collaborating with  Dr. Jonas Salk, inventor of the first polio vaccine, in the writing of a book about the human future.

What intrigued me about the opportunity to collaborate with Dr. Salk was his desire to write a book from the perspective of nature - "the scriptures of nature" - as he phrased it, replete with biological metaphor.

It was during my first conversation with Dr. Salk, as he explained the message he hoped to convey, that I suggested we write a modern day I-Ching; one that might address both the modern challenges and opportunities while paying homage to one of the world's most ancient traditions of wisdom.

Twenty-five years later, I have recast that idea by writing and illustrating The Evolver's I-Ching, scheduled for publication in December 2016.

In striving to create environments of mind conducive to meditation and mindfulness, it has been my desire that my paintings and writings serve as contemplative talismans, offering opportunities for exploration towards  deeper understanding, insight and well-being within those whom find resonance.
